Questions teachers ask

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Create a free account and you're on the Teacher-Free plan right away. You only enter payment details if you choose to upgrade.

What counts as a “live game”?

A game is live when it's published and players can open its link or QR code. Drafts don't count, so you can build and save as many games as you like on every plan. The free plan lets you keep one game live at a time; when you publish a new one, unpublish the old one first or upgrade.

Do my students need accounts or pay anything?

No. Students join with a link or QR code in any browser. They never need an account and are never charged.

What happens if I hit the live-game limit?

Your game is saved and ready. You can unpublish another game from My Projects to free up the slot, or upgrade and publish immediately. Nothing is lost.

How does the annual price work?

Teachers work about nine months of the year, so the annual price is nine months of the monthly rate with an extra 10% off, and you get all twelve months. The per-month figure on the annual plan is that yearly price divided by twelve; you pay it once, in a single charge, and you're covered through next summer. Both monthly and annual renew automatically until you cancel.

What does “players at once” mean?

How many students can be in the same game at the same time. The free plan fits a small group of 20; Teacher Standard fits a full class at 50; Teacher Pro has no cap. If a game is full, the next student sees a friendly wait screen and gets in as soon as someone finishes.

Can I cancel or change plans?

Yes, any time from Billing & Payments. If you cancel, you keep your paid features until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account returns to the free plan with all of your games intact.
